Ford government must investigate big players in the pain blocking industry: NDP

QUEEN’S PARK — The NDP is calling on the Ford government to investigate the subject of troubling investigative report by the Toronto Star, which found that four for-profit chains are capitalizing on the cost of nerve blocker injections, raking in public money while ignoring guidelines:

"Chronic pain is a serious health issue that afflicts millions of people in Ontario," said NDP Ethics and Accountability critic Taras Natyshak. "But the Star's investigative findings are troubling — that four for-profit chains are allegedly raking in public health care money, turning a medically questionable overuse of nerve blocking procedures into big easy-billing business.

Premier Doug Ford must not use this as an excuse to cut OHIP, preventing access for those who need it. Instead, the Ford government must immediately initiate an investigation of any bad actors in this sector.”
